Technology
Self-Propagating High-Temperature Synthesis (SHS) Method
ABOUT THE METHOD
The SHS (Self-Propagating High-Temperature Synthesis) technology, developed in Russia, is used to produce composite ferroalloys by igniting precursors in a nitrogen environment. This process results in the formation of nitrided ferroalloys, such as ferrosilicon nitride or ferrochromium nitride.
Nitrided alloys are used as alloying additives for various steels, and for the production of refractories, coatings, catalysts, and welding materials. This technology enables energy savings and processing of metallurgical waste into valuable products.
The SHS (Self-Propagating High-Temperature Synthesis) technology
HOW IT WORKS
1. Combustion Process
Precursors, such as ferroalloys and metals, are ignited in the presence of nitrogen
2. Self-Propagating Synthesis
The reaction is self-sustaining, generating its own heat and propagating through the material to create a stable product
3. Nitrogen Integration
This process allows for direct integration of nitrogen into the alloy, forming nitrided ferroalloys
ADVANTAGES
High Speed:
Extremely rapid process significantly reduces production time
Low Energy Consumption:
