PRODUCT APPLICATIONS
Introduction of Nitrogen (N) into steel:Nitrogen is a powerful alloying element that increases strength, corrosion resistance (especially in austenitic stainless steels), and stabilizes the austenitic structure. However, introducing gaseous nitrogen into the melt is difficult and inefficient — it has poor solubility and can cause defects (pores). NFSi® solves this problem
Introduction of Silicon (Si):Silicon acts as a deoxidizer (removes oxygen from steel) and a strengthening agent
Alloying Efficiency improvement:Using silicon nitride is much more efficient and predictable than attempting to introduce nitrogen and silicon separately. The biological assimilation of nitrogen from NFSi® reaches 90-95%, while with gaseous nitrogen blowing this figure can be below 30%
Inclusion Count reduction:Compared to other nitriding methods, NFSi® results in cleaner metal with fewer non-metallic inclusions
ADVANTAGES
High and Stable Nitrogen Assimilation:Key advantage. Allows for precise achievement of the target chemical composition
Cost-Effectiveness:Reduces overall alloying costs due to high efficiency
Convenience and Safety:Granules are easy to store, transport, and dose. This is safer than working with high-pressure gaseous nitrogen
Steel Purity:Contributes to producing metal with fewer defects
Improved Mechanical Properties:Enables production of steel with increased strength, wear resistance, and corrosion resistance
